Fantasy Football Impact Rookies
1. Reggie Bush, RB, New Orleans Saints
Yes, he will be splitting time in the backfield with the talented Deuce McAllister, but Reggie Bush is going to be an impact fantasy rookie because of his all-around abilities.
Bush might be the best rookie pass-catcher and he isn't even a wide receiver. Bush is also an elite kick returner with game-breaking speed. Needless to say, Bush might be the biggest impact fantasy rookie ever; he is that good.
2. Vernon Davis, TE, San Francisco 49ers
Well the 49ers offense in 2005 was garbage. Alex Smith showed why he should have been a Utah Ute for another season. However, he will improve this season thanks in large part to Vernon Davis, the team's first round pick. Davis is a freakish athlete with a great blend of size and speed making him a great impact fantasy rookie. He will be a mismatch for linebackers and safeties and will help make Smith's life a lot easier.
3. Joseph Addai, RB, Indianapolis Colts
With the loss of Edgerrin James, and the injury-prone Dominic Rhodes as the other running back, Joseph Addai fits perfectly in the Colts dynamic offense. He is a good runner with great hands out of the backfield and is good at picking up blitzes. Addai will be a solid impact fantasy rookie.
4. DeAngelo Williams, RB, Carolina Panthers
Arguably the best pure tailback in the NCAA last season, DeAngelo Williams will share carries with incumbent starter DaShaun Foster and when Foster gets hurt like he always does, Williams will step in and become a big-time impact fantasy rookie.
5. Santonio Holmes, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
Despite having legal troubles, Santonio Holmes is going to be an impact fantasy rookie right off the bat for the reigning Super Bowl champs. With the loss of Antwaan Randle El and the inconsistent play of Cedrick Wilson, Holmes will get a chance to play right away.
6. Marcedes Lewis, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars
Although Vernon Davis got all the hype as the best tight end in the 2006 draft class, Marcedes Lewis is definitely a great player too. Not only is he a huge target but he also has good speed and soft hands that will make him an impossible defensive match-up for slower linebackers and smaller safties. Lewis doesn't have the raw tools that Davis has but he has great make up and will be an impact fantasy rookie in the improving Jags offense.
7. LenDale White, Tennessee Titans
He fell to the second round because of character and motivation concerns but based on talent, LenDale White could be the best in the class. When teamed up with Bush at USC, they were unstoppable. White is a bruising runner who fights for extra yards. He will be an impact fantasy rookie from day 1 because of his ability to capitalize on short yardage and goal line situations.
8. Laurence Maroney, RB, New England Patriots
With the aging Corey Dillon showing signs of wearing down and a great offensive line, Laurence Maroney will get enough touches and open holes to become a high impact fantasy rookie and if Dillon gets hurt or struggles, Maroney could become the every down back.
9. Derek Hagan, WR, Miami Dolphins
The all-time leading receiver from Arizona State was a steal for the Dolphins in the 3rd round and with Daunte Culpepper behind center and Chris Chambers emerging into a superstar as we speak, Derek Hagan will be a great impact fantasy rookie with his possession pass-catching skills and no fear going over the middle.
10. Kellen Clemens, QB, New York Jets
It's no secret that the Jets have quarterback issues. With Chad Pennington slated as the starter but a shoulder that might change that, Kellen Clemens is a fearless leader with more athleticism than most would expect. He could become an impact fantasy rookie if he gets a chance to play right away.
