In fantasy sports scoring, there are only two scoring formats: Rotisserie scoring and Head to Head scoring.
In the Rotisserie scoring format, you accumulate stats for your team according to the stats that a player on your roster earns on the day of your game. You earn points in your league according to how your team ranks against others in the league.
For the Head to Head scoring format, team totals are accumulated in each of the statistical categories for a specific one-week period (Monday through Sunday). At the end of that week, a win, loss, or tie is awarded in each category based on the weekly total. These wins, losses, and ties correspond to every team's overall record.
Baseball
Baseball is the longest and most rigorous fantasy sport. With 162 games and 25 players to keep track of, it is easily the most time consuming and intense fantasy sport. Rotisserie scoring leagues are often for the more competitive players because it is regarded as more of a true measure of a team's overall talent. In Head to Head, your team may struggle mightily for 4 months but if your whole team gets hot at the right time towards the end of the season, you could find yourself at the top of the standings. Rotisserie style prevents that from happening.

Football
Most fantasy football players opt with Head to Head scoring over Rotisserie because there can be too much discrepancy in scoring every week and Head to Head makes for better competition in fantasy football because football games are one day a week and the playing field is level. Head to Head is the same concept in all fantasy sports, in football, there are more stats. In fantasy football, each player's stats are converted into fantasy points (20 rushing yards = 1 point) and then added up in Head to Head format.

Basketball
Much like fantasy baseball, Rotisserie scoring is the common format used in fantasy basketball. With a long season (82 games), the Rotisserie format makes it so the best teams will succeed and the worse teams will struggle. However, the Rotisserie format is losing some followers due to the influx of high octane offenses in the NBA in the past 5 years. With players shooting the ball more efficiently and assists and rebounds at a premium, it makes for a more exciting Head to Head match up.

Hockey
Hockey is a hard fantasy sport to play. Rotisserie and Head to Head scoring both work in hockey but there is just one issue: there is not enough action to make it as exciting as the other sports. Hockey's new rule changes have done wonders for fantasy hockey because there has been an increase in offensive chances and less substitutions but it still is a very low scoring sport.

Other Sports
Auto racing and golf are the two other fantasy sports played across the country. These fantasy sports are still very small and because of that, they have a different fantasy sports scoring method.
In these 2 fantasy sports, owners must carefully select their team by managing a budget in which they cannot go over. There are three groupings to select from. The first group consists of the best players in the respective sport and these are the most expensive. The second group is the next best batch of players and the third group are the rookies and the least successful players from the season before. Every week, each owner can select only one player from each group and play them in that tournament or race. The average finish place for your 3 players is your final score for the week.
Conclusion
Fantasy sports scoring can be complicating at first glance and not everyone knows what format would be best for them. Rotisserie scoring and Head to Head scoring are both fun fantasy sports scoring methods and they can make your league both fun and competitive.
